Angry Birds set for TV series and movie adaptation
One of the most popular games, Angry Birds will be soon appearing on the small as well as the big screen. Angry Birds, in which the player uses a slingshot to catapult birds to destroy green pigs hidden in fortresses, is still the fastest growing game on Facebook. It has been downloaded 700 million times, and parent company Rovio is now estimated to be worth £5.6 billion, just two years after the game was first launched.
This game has multiple sequels and is on a host of different platforms. According to Rovio animation head, Nick Dorra, Angry Birds is getting its own TV show. Speaking at a media conference in Cannes, France; Dorra revealed the animated Angry Birdstelevision show would comprise 52 episodes lasting between two-and-a-half and three minutes.
Unlike the game, the TV series won’t be just about recklessly bashing pigs around. According to Dorra, the new series will explore deeper thoughts, deeper feelings of the characters, such as why are they always angry? The show will be aired this year on all possible devices. However, the movie will not appear until at least 2015.
